Overview

This activity works on bimanual coordination by using both arms and hands simultaneously

Paint By Numbers

Patient uses upper extremities or gaze pointer to control a paint brush to fill in an image, matching colors to numbers. Optional hand palette in the non-painting hand helps promote bimanual coordination.

This virtual painting activity is designed to aid with bimanual coordination

Free Paint

Patient uses one of two modes: Blank Canvas or Coloring Book to express creativity. Optional hand palette in the non-painting hand, to help promote bimanual coordination.

Most therapy sessions with the REAL System are conducted in a seated position

Physical

  • Engage functional reach, postural control, dynamic balance, increased sitting tolerance

  • Gravity Neutral options – for patients that don’t have strength to go against gravity

  • Augment activity by adding diagonals or weights to resemble patient holding a paint brush

  • Test eye-hand coordination, pattern finding, object recognition, color differentiation, decision making, command response, sustained attention, idea sequencing, processing speed, memory

  • Helps improve focus and concentration

  • Supports tracking of spatial sound
